Good evening! Tonight, there won’t be a new edition of The Call Sheet—please allow me to explain why. The long and short of it is, I have rethought my production of the newsletter, and content for Mickey at the Movies overall. To be clear, that doesn’t mean The Call Sheet is going away, or that I’m shifting away from writing new reviews. In fact, it’s nothing of the sort. Rather, I want to make sure what I’m producing is more comprehensive and fulfilling for readers.
Because of that, a few small changes are coming.
First, The Call Sheet is going to become a bi-weekly newsletter, rather than one that’s produced every week. I’m making the change to allow myself both more time to work on the newsletter over the course of several more days, but also to ensure I’m spending much-needed quality time with my family. The format of the newsletter will still be the same (though I continue being open to any constructive feedback), but the goal is to make it a better source of movie and entertainment news, commentary and perspective. I’m mulling moving it to a different day of the week, and would love you to share your thoughts on that below.
Secondly, I’m planning on sending more push emails to promote my reviews. So, each time a new review is published, it will be automatically shared with subscribers. I’m excited to have more people engaging with those reviews and sharing them with others.
I understand that some readers may not love these changes, but I hope to continue to earn your support, and that you’ll tell friends and family members (and maybe even strangers!) who also love film and TV about my work and spreading the word. I thank you all so much for your support and look forward to sharing more content with you moving forward.
If you have any questions or comments, you’re welcome to leave a note on this newsletter, or email me directly at mickeyatthemovies@gmail.com.
All the best,
Mickey
